Sleepwalking Christianity
I have written before about the peaks and valleys of my journey to and with Christ. I think another way to say the same thing is to sleepwalk through your faith. It has been forever since I have posted here. Lots has happened. My wife and I have had our first daughter which has been an unbelievable blessing. Since we had so much trouble, we feel like she is such a little miracle. But she has also been a part of why I feel like I am a sleepwalking Christian.
I still make it to church every week. My prayer life is down, but not out. But my devotional time has been almost none. I just get caught up in the worries of this world instead of spiritual things. With my wife off work, I am spending more time in the office. 8-6:30 every day. Then I spend my time at home with my little peanut and work around the house. Then I am physically and mentally spent. Rather than seeing time in the bible as relaxation and rejuvenation it has become a task or chore to fit in.
I always told myself that if God answered my prayer and let my wife and I raise a child of our own, It would renew my faith. I know I said it and prayed it, but after the fact I still find myself struggling to give God the glory and praise he deserves for this.
Basically eight years into my Christian life, it still hasn't got any easier. My mountaintop moments are in my past and I fight to find a strong burning desire to spread my faith or expand my knowledge.
Anyway, pray for me if you read this that my faith will be renewed and that I will spend more time with the Word and other ministries.

I prayed for you, and would like to encourage you to keep trying to establish a regular prayer/study time.
It is not easy to devote the same amount of time in prayer and study after we have a child (my daughter is now 4, and I'm just getting back to my pre-pregnancy levels of both!)
There are a number of ways to have prayer time while caring for an infant; I used to do some of my best praying while feeding my daughter. I used diaper changes as an opportunity to pray for her. Study time can be found during lunch hours, or I had a great deal of success with audio CDs of the New Testament while driving.
Stay encouraged. Your little one will grow fast, and there will be new challenges, some that will make you think back to this time and wish you could turn back the clock! Hard to believe, but it is true.
And know that the Lord will meet you right where you are, and will help you in the small things too.
God's peace.

Hi, I would like to take a moment to give you an illistraton that might help. life is a series of mountains and vallys, and we always feel great when we are on the mountain. but alas the air is thin and the ground is rocky, in contrast in the vally the soil is rich and the climate much more condusive to growth. so I pray that while you are in this vally you and your wife and baby will grow in faith to Gods glory until you once again stand on the montian top of you christian walk.
life has its up and downs and what matters most is how to take Christianity to our life and then to move forward facing the challenges of life
Just recognizing your lost time with god is a good sign, once recognized then it can be dealt with. I totally feel you though cause i have had the same sort of thing going on in my life. Well now i am IN a storm of life and i grab a hold of my lord so tight right now. Its a horrible storm for me but of course something good has come out of it so i would like to encourage you, to just keep on keeping on, even though it may feel like a chore just keep seeking him, at least in your thoughts and dont condemn yourself because that is from the father of lies. God bless...susie
It is most often when we are having our hard times that we meet our Lord face to face. When we are weak, we feel his strength. This is so true, I cannot stress it enough. In your heart, just say, "Lord, I need you today. Will you walk with me? Will you show me the way? It starts with little moments like that, and then grows. And you will begin to recognize how close He really is. Also, pray while you walk, jog, drive to work, cook, clean...The space will grow within you first; then it will grow around you, and you will make the time and space a regular thing.
May God bless you, and give you peace.
