My burden is light?
Light? To believe that a God sent his son to die for me? A son I have not met, who has not spoken, whose Spirit goes quiet?
To live putting him first, above family, friends, self? To trust in the promise of his Word, a book handed to me by a man? A creature that this God's Word tells me is full of sin. Yet his word is trusted to man for thousands of years.
Asked not only to believe, but to Go! Needing to understand that those who are not convinced will go to Hell. Good people...friends...family...all condemned to death for not being convinced that Jesus died for them.
Light? Not to me. Not this journey. I need help and cry out for it but get silence and doubt.
God who hears all prayers, hear mine. Reach out to me in a direct way. Make yourself known to me. I go back to my first prayer.
Lord, be strong in my life
Help me to find my faith
And I will follow you!
Be strong, an all powerful God who has pity on a lost sheep. One who made it back into the flock, but is struggling to keep up.
Show me that it is true what you said, "For my yoke is easy and my burden is light". Help me lift.

I read this today and came across your blog. I thought it may aply to what you are going through. It was written by Billy Graham. "Never doubt that you are in the midst of a battle- a spiritual battle with Satan, who will do everything he can to discourage and defeat you. Never underestimate his determination or misunderstand his intentions." He goes on to say that the tools to defend ourselves include " the Bible, prayer, faith, righteous living, and the Holy Spirit." Deciding to choose God's way for our lives is not easy for anyone. We all have highs and lows through out our journey. Satan will try and make our doubts and fears seem so big that God suddenly seems so small. It's important to surround ourselves with other christians, to be involved with a church(more than just Sunday mornings), read the Bible, and pray. You may not think he is listening, but he never leaves his children. He is always listening. The trials we face on earth will only make us stronger so that we will be more prepared when the next, bigger trial comes our way. Sometimes when we feel so far away from God, that the idea of picking up our Bible and spending time with him makes us feel bad inside, is the most important time to do it. It sucks because there is no motivation there to do it, but those are the times we need God's direction the most and Satan is grabbing you with both hands. Try this, next time you feel like the last thing you want to do is pray or read. Pick up your Bible and spend some uninterupted time with God for as long as it takes to feel his presence again.

Please..I could certainly use a little help and comfort.
I am still struggling with disbelief and desires. I am not sure that I am strong enough for this walk the rest of my life.
Does it ever get any easier? Do some Christians struggle with belief their entire life.
Does it get easier? Are you kidding? There is nothing simple at all about the life of a Christian. Jesus told us to pick up our crosses and follow Him. He didn't promise an easy path, quite the opposite.
We are all going to suffer in this life. We are going to let ourselves and others down. We are going to be let down. But we go through these things and come out the other end stronger.
For an example, a friend and I were talking about this very situation last night. She was lamented about her ex-husband and her current boyfriend, about how she should have listened and dropped her ex-h at the first sign of his behavior and that she should have never hooked up with her current b-friend. I explained to her that if she would have dropped her ex when she wanted to, she would not have her beautiful seven year old daughter that is the light of her life. So we are exactly where God wants us to be. We are going to go through rough times, but He uses those times to make us stronger, to mature us.
Regarding disbelief, even the most seasoned Christian will question themselves from time to time. But think on this, you said in your blog:
quote:
To live putting him first, above family, friends, self? To trust in the promise of his Word, a book handed to me by a man? A creature that this God's Word tells me is full of sin. Yet his word is trusted to man for thousands of years.
A book handed you by a man. But when properly followed, that book will change your life for the better. You know when Jesus speaks of bearing fruit. If the Bible wasn't all that it says it is, then the fruit produced from following it would not be good. But in the name of Christ, more hospitals, schools, charities, and acts of kindness are done on a daily basis, then I have heard of with any other "religion." The life of Christ is His testament to the truth. That He walked the same road that we did, suffered through the same temptations, and beat them, to go on to give His life so that the world wouldn't be "full of sin".
I know a lot about doubts. I've had them a lot. My road hasn't been an easy one to walk either. But I walk it much easier with Jesus at my side, than I do when I run off on Him. Pray to Him, give yourself over to Him, and start trusting Him instead of questioning Him. You'll be okay.

I would be interested to know where it says in Holy Scripture that you are a 'creature full of sin'?
If you are not saved, I understand, but if you are Born Again you cannot be full of sin - it's impossible.

Hello Won Christian,
My last two posts to your blog seemed to have run into difficulties, so I have copied your "My burden is light?" to my blog where I have corrected what you have written.
Here is my email address

Hey,
just some thoughts but I saw this earlier and really wanted to reply.
1. doubts
I guess I think that doubt is an intrinsic part of faith - we are told to love God with all our heart, soul and MIND (Matthew 22:37).
I dont think we're supposed to make doubts go away by trying to force ourselves to ignore them but by asking questions, and in doing so maybe we get to know God better and deepen our faith.
but we're supposed to have a childlike faith (i'm sure it says that somewhere but cant find the quote offhand), - I guess a child regularly asks why but at the same time they trust the father to have the answers, even if they dont understand them yet.
We are supposed to trust in a person (Jesus) rather than our ability to understand.
So its finding a way to ask questions while continuing to act in faith that there are answers (and maybe we wont know all of them till heaven).
So if I had a doubt about something I would eg - look at what other christians are saying (usually several different ideas; apologetics sites are often useful for this), look at the biblical (and logical) evidence for the different options, and pray. and hopefully eventually feel i had a clearer answer about what i believed. But not stop following God in the meantime because He has the answer even if I dont yet.
Just some thoughts hope they might be helpful
All I can say is thank you Lord that you are in control, and I am not. If I leave my burdens at the foot of the alter or at your feet, you will take care of them, so long as I trust in you! Praise You Jesus
I found this site using google.com And i want to thank you for your work. You have done really very good site. Great work, great site! Thank you!
