Judge My Faith? Do my doubts keep me from Heaven?

Judge Faith - Doubts HeavenWhen I look back at my life, I have been a Christian for most of it..at least in part. Most of my life, my faith has ebbed and flowed. In 30 years, my faith that Jesus died for me and that there is one and only one God has ranged from complete and total belief to complete rejection of the concept.

So do I make your grade? If I died tomorrow, would you think I made it to Heaven?

You see, this last few months I have been doubting some. Reading my Bible less, spending less time in prayer, and serving less. But I still believe, still make it to church, and still ask the Lord for help getting back to my 10 out of 10 faith score.

But where is the Holy Spirit? Why is this so hard for me? Hours and hours, books and books, serving, prayer groups, and more. Pray for me that I will be stronger in the coming days and weeks. That my focus will be on the Lord and not on myself, my life, and just getting by.

Sincerely,

Won Christian

PS - I really am posting my study on the Books of Paul at some point. This is one of the reasons I need prayers.

Hello again Won Christian,

I do hope you are not going to delete my posts, as they are for your Spiritual benefit and for those who may visit your blog.

"When I look back at my life, I have been a Christian for most of it..at least in part. Most of my life, my faith has ebbed and flowed."

Your faith cannot ebb and flow for the simple reason, it is not your faith. Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

Grace and Faith are gifts of God. Your faith is dead until you do works: James 2:17. Now if you are telling me you are doing no works then your faith is as dead as it was in the beginning, but the faith you were given at conversion is still there and unless you turn your back on The Lord and walk away from Him, it will always be there!!

In turn of course, because He has given us His Faith He does expect us to excercise our faith. The exercising of our faith, then earns us rewards stored in Heaven. His Faith and our faith are two separate things.

I do hope this helps, as it will then enable you to end all your worrying and fretting about ebbs and flows of faith that just don't happen, (apart from in your mind) for He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.

Wow, what a question. I just ran across this site.

There is only one way to make it to heaven. Are you born again as described in the book of John? It has nothing to do with your works at any point during your life.

I'm sure you've heard of religion as "man's attempt to reach God (by works)" and knowing Jesus as a "relationship". Religion never gets you to heaven.

We live in a world controlled by Satan and we are sinners by birth. Just as Adam fell short, we all fall short. I wouldn't be concerned about not "feeling" close to God. He is not a feeling.

God will bless those that hunger and thirst after Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you. He will give you the desire to seek Him. That's His job, not ours. Any effort on your own, is just another work and you will eventually get bored, tired, or whatever and slip back.

I once went on a short term mission and was really blessed. Our missions pastor told me to pray about going out longer. I told him that I really didn't want to go out longer. His answer was, not to worry because if God wants you to go out He will change the desires of your heart.

What a relief. If God wants me to go to the end of the world I will be so excited that I can't wait to get going (assuming I'm listening). God does the work.

Your last sentence says it all. Focus on Jesus. Everything will fall into place. You may or may not like what happens but it's His will.
